IRS Posts Various Retirement Plan and HSA Related Forms

December 28, 2005 – The IRS has posted the 2006 Form 1042-S, Foreign Person’s U.S. Source Income Subject to Withholding, as well as the form’s instructions.  The form is issued to the IRS and certain foreign persons with U.S. source income to report distributions that are subject to withholding, including distributions from retirement arrangements. The IRS has posted the 2005 tax year Form 8889, Health Savings Accounts (HSAs), and its instructions.  This form is a taxpayer form used to report contributions, deductions and distributions from HSAs.  The form and instructions may be accessed as follows.

The IRS has posted the 2005 tax year Form 8853, Archer MSAs and Long-Term Care Insurance Contracts, and its detailed instructions.  Form 8853 is a taxpayer form used to report Archer medical savings account contributions, to calculate a taxpayer deduction, to report MSA distributions, etc.  This form and its instructions may be accessed as follows.

The IRS has posted the 2005 tax year Form 8891, U.S. Information Return for Beneficiaries of Certain Canadian Registered Retirement Plans.  This form is filed with a U.S. citizen or resident’s Form 1040 to report contributions, earnings and distributions associated with certain Canadian retirement plans.  This form is also used by such taxpayers to elect to defer U.S. taxation on earnings within these Canadian plans.  Form 8891 may be accessed as follows.
